Josephine County Evidence Center

Overcoming Spatial Limits

The Josephine County Sheriff’s Department was restricted by an outdated, overcrowded evidence facility that hindered modern operational workflows. To secure their future operations, the department envisioned a new 14,000-square-foot (70’x200’) Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB). CDArchitects (CDA) was brought on board to transform this vision into a highly functional, secure reality.

High-Performance Public Safety Design

The building’s layout is strategically divided into two distinct, specialized zones to balance daily administrative tasks with high-security needs:                                                                                        Administrative Wing (Front): Built to optimize investigative efficiency, housing six offices for detectives and support staff, two private interrogation rooms, and a modern conference and   breakroom.
The Secure Evidence Wing (Rear): Engineered for strict chain-of-custody control, featuring a dedicated intake office, an officer restroom and shower facility, specialized high-security vaults for firearms and narcotics, and a large general evidence warehouse with integrated, heavy-duty shelving.

Seamless Execution From Concept to Completion

  • Complex municipal projects demand careful planning. CDA navigated this intricate design process through a seamless, full-service approach:
Stakeholder Alignment: CDA initiated the project with dynamic Design Development sketches, working hand-in-hand with law enforcement officials to resolve complex programming and security challenges.
Precision Documentation: We translated concepts into airtight Construction Documents (CDs) and Bid Documents. This meticulous package—complete with detailed floor plans, elevations, sections, and technical specifications—ensured accurate General Contractor pricing and rapid permit approval.
Total Consultant Coordination: CDA served as the central hub for all project engineering, flawlessly aligning structural, civil, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) consultants.
Construction Administration: By providing continuous oversight from breaking ground to final handover, CDA ensures the project achieves a successful, high-quality conclusion.
